Huhuonline.com can disclose that the Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta (MEND) early on Tuesday set up a peace broker committee to mediate between them and the Federal Government.
In a media advisory made available to Huhuonline.com, the militant group said the committee, comprising two former - military leaders and an academic, is to oversee a "transparent and proper MEND disarmament process that conforms with international standards as the current disarmament process is flawed and lacks integrity.
"The members are Okhai Mike Akhigbe, a retired vice admiral; Luke Kakadu Aprezi, a retired major general; and Sabella Ogbobode Abidde. Nobel Laureate, Wole Soyinka is named an "Observer.
"MEND also said it has nominated Annkio Briggs, a female activist in the Niger Delta, to liaise between it and the committee it called the "Aaron Team."
