Ejisu (Ash.), Aug. 6, GNA - Two lives were lost and property valued at about GHc827,712 were destroyed in fire outbreaks in the Ejisu-Juaben Municipality last year, Mr K. A. Adjei, the Municipal Fire Officer, has said.

He told the GNA in an interview that 89 fire outbreaks were recorded in the area during the period. Thirty-one of these were domestic fires, 14 industrial, 16 bushfires and the remaining 28 involved vehicles.

Mr Adjei said carelessness on the part of the general public was to blame for the fires and to help curb these fire outbreaks the Municipal Office of the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) had mounted an intensive education campaign on fire prevention.

He said it was vital to report fire outbreaks early to the service for prompt action.
