Tema, July 31, GNA - The Tema Circuit Court “A” on Thursday remanded George Fianko, a driver, when he together with Benjamin Osei Boateng, a driver, appeared before the court.
They were both charged with two counts of possessing firearms without authority, and conspiracy to commit crime but Fianko got an additional charge of possessing narcotic drugs.
They pleaded not guilty and the court remanded Fianko, but granted bail to Osei Boateng in the sum of 10,000 Ghana Cedis, with three sureties to be justified.
They are to re-appear on Thursday, August 27.
Prosecuting, Chief Inspector Adolphus Otchere, told the court presided over by Mrs Lorinda Owusu that on February 21 police personnel patrolling the Community One Market Square intercepted a taxi driven by Fianko.
A search revealed a locally manufactured gun concealed under the front passengers' seat.
Chief Inspector Otchere said when a search was conducted on Fianko a wrapper of dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp was found in his wallet.
Both were arrested and sent to the Police Station. GNA
