Accra, July 7, GNA – Some projects were inaugurated at the Jungle Warfare School at Akim Achiase in the Eastern Region.

The project which consisted of a ten-unit officers and students accommodation cost 30,000 pounds and was funded by the British High Commission.

The Accra-Berlin Medical Post, another project that cost 25,000 Euros, was funded by the German Embassy.

Major General Peter Augustine Blay, Chief of Defence (CDS), Mr. Paul Quaye, Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Defence Advisors of the German and British embassies, Colonel Kunz and Lieutenant Colonel WAN Mellows jointly inaugurated the project.

The CDS expressed appreciation of the Minister of Defence and the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) High Command and the various Defence Advisors and Attachés who have assisted GAF training institutions.

The Jungle Warfare School, which was officially commissioned in November 1976 at Achiase, has assumed greater importance in counter insurgency and jungle warfare exercise due to its excellent terrain.

Since its establishment, the school has lived up to its objectives of training officers and men of the GAF in counter insurgency and internal security operations.
