Winneba (C/R), July 2, GNA - Two persons believed to be members of a group who used stolen pay slips to purchase items from some firms, have been arrested at their hide-outs in the Eastern and Volta Regions by the Winneba Police.

They are Mr Matthew Chico Amegadzie, 52, a teacher at Manso and a native of Suhum in the Eastern Region, and Mr Eric Dzreke, 36, a student of the University of Education, Winneba and a native of Narvie near Dabala in the Volta Region.

A top police officer from the Winneba Municipal Police Command, who pleaded anonymity, told the Ghana News Agency in an interview in Winneba that, the police are looking four others who are now on the run.

He said Mr Amegadzie was arrested at his hide-out at Suhum and Mr Dzreke was also arrested at a village near Dabala.

He said sometime in April this year some of the students of the University of Education, Winneba, reported to the Police that their pay slips have been stolen and were being used by some colleagues to engage in hire purchase transactions with certain companies.

The police officer said during investigations the two were arrested and would be prosecuted.
