Ho, June 29, GNA - Mr Henry Ametepe, Volta Regional Coordinator of the National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO), on Monday said the organization had secured enough relief items to offer assistance to victims of disaster during this raining season.
He said his outfit has started distributing some items to “some major communities” hit by flood which should offer some relief and hope to victims.
Mr Ametepe, who was speaking to the Ghana News Agency in an interview, listed blankets, mattresses, bags of rice and iron sheets among relief items in stock.
He urged Municipal and District assemblies to ensure that houses were built according to plan and designed to reduce the incidence of disasters.
Some low lying areas in Ho - around the Regional Hospital, the Polyclinic and Tsiyikpota near the 66 Artillery Regiment (Volta Barracks)- were inundated during a heavy downpour last Saturday. GNA
