Kumasi June 14, GNA- Nana Kwabena Adusei II, the newly installed Kyidomhene (Sub-Chief) of Kyirapatre, a suburb of Kumasi, at the weekend donated seven sets of jersey valued at GH¢2100 to two public schools in the community.
Kyirapatre Roman Catholic Primary School received five sets, while the local Authority Junior High schools had two sets each.
Nana Adusei said the donation was aimed at supporting the schools to train and participate fully in sporting activities to enable the pupils to be healthy and also nurture their talents.
He called on the pupils not to spend their time only playing but must also learn very hard to make them useful to society.
The Kyidomhene pledged to continue supporting the development of the community at all times to complement government efforts.
He announced plans to award students who read a book a week in the community.
Reverend Monsignor Gabriel Acheampong, Parish Priest of the Saint Michael Catholic Church, who received the donation, thanked Nana Adusei for the kind gesture.
Madam Agnes Adu-Boahen, Headmistress of the Kyipatre Primary School commended Nana Adusei for constructing a bore hole fitted with an electric pump in addition to a big poly tank that provides water to the educational facility and the entire community.
She said the chief had also provided the school with a classroom block, which comprises of four classrooms for the kindergarten pupils and a staff common room.
