Unknown Assailant Inflicts Machetes Wound on Student

Hohoe, May 27, GNA - A driver of a cab, whose identity is unknown, on Monday inflicted multiple machetes wounds on Ivy Afua Okrah, an 18 year-old student of the Akpafu Mempeasem Senior High School, in the Hohoe Municipality.

Okrah, who suffered various cuts on the head, neck and arms with two of her middle fingers severed off, is said to be responding to treatment, according to a source at the Hohoe Municipal Hospital.

Narrating her ordeal to the Ghana News Agency, Ms Okrah said she was attacked by the unknown assailant without provocation at the section of the road between Odomi and Mempeasem on the Hohoe-Jasikan Highway at about 1750 hours on May 25, this year.

She said the assailant who drove a cab, pulled up wielding a machete and ordered her to remove her panty, which she obliged to.

Ms Okrah said suddenly the assailant began attacking her with the machete leading to her unconsciousness.

Mr Daniel Ablodey, Hohoe Municipal Police Commander, who corroborated the incident, said Mr Okrah was brought to the hospital by a 'Good Samaritan' in a comatose state.
