The former Chief of Staff under the NPP regime, Kwadwo Mpiani, says his house was never invaded by operatives of the Bureau of National Investigations (BNI) on Tuesday contrary to what was reported in the media.

The forthright man who is attending a “series of funerals” outside the capital Accra, however, admitted a friend received a call on his behalf from the secretary of the BNI director and has since responded to the call.

“I will be in Accra on Monday and I have requested that I will get to him (BNI director) to arrange a mutual time to meet,” he told Joy FM's Super Morning Show host, Kojo Oppong-Nkrumah on Wednesday.

According to the Ghanaian Chronicle newspaper, BNI officials went to the house of Mr. Mpiani after failing to contact him through the telephone, he however expressed “surprise” about the paper's report.

So far it is not clear why the BNI went after the Former Chief of Staff but media reports speculate it has to do with a recent comment he made daring the Atta Mills government to drag him to court if they have evidence of corruption against him.

Other wide range of issues he is expected to be quizzed on include malfeasance and causing financial loss to the state; the operations of Ghana International Airline and other reported transactions during his tenure as Chief of Staff.
