The First Lady, Her Excellency Ernestina Naadu Mills and Mrs. Lordina Mahama, wife of the Vice President have sent a Special Mothers Day Congratulatory Message to all mothers across the country.
They congratulated mothers for their love and commitment to the development of their children, noting that the Day “provides us all with an opportunity to thank our mothers for their selflessness and sacrifices.” According to the two, Mothers Day is the best time to say in words and deed how much we love and care for our mothers.
The message emphasized the need for the enhancement of especially the country's health delivery system as part of the general strategies to reduce maternal and infant mortality.
“We take this opportunity to assure the women of Ghana and the entire country of our personal commitment to helping improve the lot of especially our women in conformity with the promises made by the National Democratic Congress (NDC).”
The First and Second Ladies also urged especially working mothers not to abandon their long cherished role of providing care for the family at all times despite the challenges that today confront career women.
