Kpassa (V/R), April 30, GNA - Mr Paul Levin Gyato, 43, a tutor at the Kpassa Senior High School, was on Wednesday conformed as District Chief Executive of Nkwanta North.
All the 16 members of the assembly voted for him.
Mr Gyato said he was grateful to the President for the opportunity to serve his people and country and pledged to justify the confidence reposed in him.
He acknowledged the role of chiefs especially in the maintenance of peace and pledged to consolidate it to boost development.
Mr Joseph Kweku Nayan, Member of Parliament for Nkwanta North, reminded the people that the development of the area was a collective agenda that should be pursued irrespective of the party in government.
Colonel Cyril Neku (Rtd), the Deputy Volta Regional Minister, urged the people to bury all political, cultural and social differences and harness their strength towards the building of the district.
He commended the assembly members for endorsing the President's nominee and appealed that they supported him to succeed.
Meanwhile, members after two rounds of voting elected Mr Thomas Kumah Akposim as the Presiding Member of the area by 11 votes out of 16 representing 68.7 percent.
There was a deadlock in the first round when Mr Akposim and his challenger Mr Michael Badenyi failed to poll two-thirds of the vote.
