Endorsements have come in for the recently appointed Chairman of government's Economic Advisory Council, Dr. Gobind Nankani, who is also said to be on government's head list as a possible successor to the current Bank of Ghana Governor.

Citi Business gathered some months ago that Dr. Nankani, former World Bank Africa Vice President, was being considered as the next governor of the Central bank when the term of the current governor expires.

Though he is yet to confirm any approaches by the current government, it is believed that he is being courted to accept the job.

As if to lend credence to the speculations, he has recently been made the Chairman of Government's economic advisory council.

Speaking to Citi Business, an Economist, Dr. Cadman Atta-Mills, says Ghana will be lucky to have Dr. Nankani as her next governor.

Dr. Cadman, also a member of the advisory council, says Dr. Nankani has proved himself over the years as an authority and it will be a great step if he accepts the job.

Dr. Atta-Mills says he, cannot, however confirm that the former World bank Vice President, will eventually be chosen as governor.

The President of the Global Development Network, Dr. Nankani is a Ghanaian native and commands respect among the international community having had a thirty-year distinguished career at the World Bank.
