H. E. the President, Prof John Evans Atta Mills has made more nominations for six Regions for confirmation by their respective assemblies and subsequent appointments as Metropolitan, Municipal and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs), for the Central, Ashanti, Volta, Northern and Western Regions.
This is by virtue of section 243(1) of the 1992 Constitution of the Republic of Ghana and section 20(1) of the Local Government Act, 1993, Act 462, according to a press release issued in Accra and signed by Mr Joseph Yieleh Chireh, Minister for Local Government and Rural Development.
The nominees for the Central Region are: Efutu district, Nii Ephraim, Agona District, Mr Obeng Forson and Komenda / Edina / Eguafo / Abirem District, Rev (Mrs) Veronica Essuman Nelson.
The nominee for the Ashanti Region is Afigya Kwabre district, Oppong Kyekyeku Kaakyire.
The nominees for the Volta Region are: South Tongu District, Daniel K. Ametorku, Ketu North District, Heston Moses Azaglo and Ketu South District, Bernard Frank Amarble.
The nominee for the Northern Region is Karaga District, Abdulai Mohammed Sandow.
The nominee for the Western Region is Jomoro District, Victor Nyianyi Kablah and the nominee for the Brong Ahafo Region is Nkoranza South District, Emmanuel Kwadwo Agyekum.
