The Minister for Foreign Affairs, Hon Alhaji Mohammed Mumuni has praised the Director General of Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO) for his immense contributions towards the strengthening of food security and agriculture in the country as well as helping in development process.
The Hon Minister made this remarks when Dr Jacques Diouf and his entourage paid a courtesy call on him at the Ministry, last Wednesday, in Accra. He greatly commended their efforts and urged them on to do more to further enhance agriculture.
According to the Minister, Government in collaboration with his sector to put up some measures which are meant to provide food for pregnant women, nursing mothers and children in order to eradicate poverty.
He said, FAO has played a vital role in the country which aims at taking control or facing the challenges in the agriculture sector. He added, their vision is to modernise agriculture.
He noted that, there is the need to develop food security andagriculture, empower the people, provide the structures and distribute food to the other parts of the country.
He was, however hopeful that the FAO will go a long way to support the project and expressed his gratitude to the Director General for sponsoring Agriculture.
He promised Government's support to collaborate to change the phase of Agriculture.
His Excellency, Dr Jacques Diouf also expressed his gratitude for the support Government is giving to promote agriculture inGhana.
According to him, Ghana is the first country to achieve the course of good economy.
He gave his assurance to the Minister to support and promote agriculture in the country when he is called upon.
