Mr Kwabena Osei-Bonsu, Executive Director of Kick Malaria Out of Africa, a non-governmental organization (NGO) for malaria eradication and peace building in the country, has called on the ethnic groups in the north to bury their differences and champion the cause of unity and peace for national development.

He said unity played a very important role in the socio-economic development of every nation and that without peace there would be no progress in the communities in which they lived.

Mr Osei-Bonsu made the call at a meeting with citizens of Mamprusi, Kusasi and Mossi resident at Ashiaman near Tema on Saturday.

Mr Osei-Bonsu said the NGO, with the assistance of the Ministry of Lands and Forestry, would distribute economic trees in the Bawku municipality as a way of providing employment to reduce poverty, which led to conflict.

The Executive Director said 40,000 cashew, 20,000 citrus and 100,000 moringa seedlings would be distributed for planting as a sign of peace building.

He expressed the hope that the youth would take advantage of the exercise and go into gainful employment to reduce poverty in the area.

Mr Ahmed B. Kariaman, an elder of the Maprusis also advised the chiefs in the conflict areas to develop love for one another and live in peace and harmony for national development.
