CJA to continue fight against corruption

The Committee for Joint Action (CJA) says it will continue with its criticisms of government policies in spite of the change in government.

The pressure group was highly critical of the erstwhile Kufuor administration with some critics referring to it as a political wing of the NDC.

The group is largely made up of members of the NDC, raising doubts as to whether it will continue with its crusade against corruption.

But Mr. Kwesi Pratt, a leading member of the CJA, says the change in government has not in any way changed the core values and principles of the group.

He told Joy News' Sammy Darko the group has just renewed its mandate to fight corruption and to campaign against general hardships of the populace.

He maintained the CJA would vigorously continue its mandate to ensure transparency in public administration and to ensure the interest of the society is always served.

He explained their criticism of the Kufuor administration was just not for political expediency but to campaign against the general hardships imposed on Ghanaians.

Mr. Pratt dismissed the perception that group would suffer from conflict of interest now that the NDC is in government.

He pointed out that some members of the NPP - the western regional chairman and a few others - were part of the CJA even when the party was in government, and should not be a problem for the NDC members of the group to remain now that their party is in government.

While calling on all committed to fighting corruption to come on board, Mr. Pratt cautioned if anyone however feels uncomfortable with the mandate of CJA, they can bow out gracefully.
