The people of Atwea, near Nsuta in the Sekyere Central District of the Ashanti Region, are constructing six-unit self-contained teachers' quarters at a cost of GH¢73,000 for staff of Atwea D/A Junior Secondary School.

The project, which is being funded by the Assembly through its Common Fund, is nearing completion.

This came to light on weekend when Mr Asonaba Dapaah, Council of State Member led newsmen to the area to inspect the project.

Mr Dapaah said the project to be completed in March 2009, would accommodate teachers to enable them effectively monitor and supervise students' academic activities.

He also announced a construction of a 17.1 kilometre Oyoko-Nsuta road which had been awarded to the Concords Construction Limited at the cost of GH¢1,500,000. This he said the contractor had started the construction of culverts on the road.

Mr Dapaah said plans were also far advanced for Abaasua and Adutwam in the district to benefit from an electrification project noting that some communities had already been provided with high tension poles and transformers hoping that electricity would be supplied by next year.

He said government was committed to the provision of infrastructure facilities including the construction of classroom blocks, provision of water, clinics, hospitals, electricity roads and others to improve their living conditions
