Kwamo Technical Institute receives support from PTA

The Parents' Teacher-Association (PTA) of the Community Development Technical Institute at Kwamo in the Ejisu-Juaben Municipality, through special levies have purchased 15,000 Ghana Cedis 33-seater Benz bus for the education institution.

It has also raised 20,000 Ghana Cedis to start the construction of a one-storey building estimated to cost 400,000 cedis, which would consist six classrooms, science and computer laboratories, assembly hall, library and staff common room.

Mr. Akrofi Darko, the PTA Chairman, disclosed this at the presentation of keys to the bus and sod cutting ceremony for the beginning of the building project, on Saturday.

He said that the PTA through its resources was also fencing round the school to prevent encroachment and truancy among students.

Mr. Darko appealed to government, non-governmental organizations (NGO's), the Ejisu-Juaben Municipal Assembly and philanthropists to assist the Institute to complete the project.

Mr. Yaw Ahenkora Afrifa, the Municipal Chief Executive, who performed the ceremony, commended the PTA for its contribution to the development of the Institute.

He called on NGO's and individuals, especially parents to support the development of education in the municipality.

Mr. Ebenezer Arko, Vice Principal of the Institute, said the Institute that was established in 1973, with a student population of 400, pursue courses in Carpentry, Plumbing, Motor Vehicle, Building Construction and General Electrical. He appealed to the assembly and estate developers to award contracts to students of the Institute to enable them to improve on their practical skills and raise money to sustain the programmes and activities of the School.
