Vice President Alhaji Aliu Mahama on Monday said it has been the wish of the Government to create more constituencies and turn some of them into districts to help facilitate rapid development of the country.

He said that wish could, however, be achieved if Ghanaians retain the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in power to enable it to carry out its development agenda for the country.

Alhaji Mahama was speaking at a political rally at Fielemoa in the Sissala West District to run off his four-day campaign tour of the Upper West Region.

He said the NPP administration had brought a lot of developments to the country but admitted that more developments were still needed to meet the aspirations of the people.

Alhaji Mahama assured the people that roads in the district would be rehabilitated to enhance the economic activities.

He said the Government is a listening and caring one and would deliver on its promises it made to the people.

On the election, Alhaji Mahama urged all stakeholders to play their roles appropriately to ensure free, fair and violent-free elections, saying; “let us shame those who agitate for trouble.”

The Chief of Fielemoa, Naa Frances N. Danikuu II, appealed to the Government for the creation of a second constituency in the district to be known as Zini-Buwa Constituency to help facilitate socio-economic growth of the area.

Naa Danikuu asked Ghanaians to ensure peace before, during and after the elections.

Mr Macdonald Agbenyo, Chairman of the NPP Chapter in Canada, said elections were about ideas and not fighting and that the NPP has the best ideas.

“In politics we are brothers and sisters and nobody should incite the people to fight, pointing out that the fight is in the ballot box and not with the gun,” he said.
