THE Salt and Light Ministries (SALM) will organise a special Prayer Rally for Peaceful Elections on Saturday, December 6.
The programme, slated for the SALM Offices on No. 10 Yiyiwa Street, Abelenkpe, near Sollatek's corporate office, at 8am be held under the theme, “As They Began to Sing and Praise, the Lord began to Set Ambushes” (2 Chronicles 20:22.).
The preacher will be Rev. Kofi Adjei Kwabi from the Presbyterian Church of Ghana, Asante Mampong.
At a press briefing at the Salt and Light offices in Accra, on Monday, Ms Joyce R. Aryee, the Executive Director, explained that SALM chose December 6 to enable all Ghanaians “to come with their anxieties, apprehensions and doubts to receive confirmation from God that He will indeed bless Ghana with His peace.
She said that though Ghana had held peaceful elections since her return to constitutional rule in 1992, some people were skeptical about the country going through this year's process peacefully.
But SALM thinks otherwise. There is absolutely no cause for alarm. On December 6, we are going to hold God to His promise to us to bring salvation to this land,” she said adding, “God wants His people to call on Him in their hour of need and this is what Salt & Light is urging us to do.
“As you are aware, some people are really apprehensive that there will be widespread violence on the day of elections. Such people are therefore between and betwixt.
They do not know whether they should risk going to their polling stations to cast their vote or stay in the comfort of their homes. However, it is our constitutional right and our civic duty to vote. We must allow the power of God to lead and direct us, instead of our fear of man,” she said. Ms Aryee said the Ministries is confident that “we will pray to the Lord and receive His assurance of protection and deliverance from the forces of evil who want to cause mayhem. Then we will go out and cast our votes in the power of God!”
