Members of Asanteman Association of Chicago and Midwest, United States of America have donated assorted books worth about 16,000 dollars to Ashanti Library in Kumasi.
They included fiction and non-fiction textbooks, workbooks, journals and children's reading materials.
Mr Victor Boafo, Secretary of the association, presenting the books said it was their contribution to improve education in Ashanti Region.
Mrs Rebecca Akita, Librarian in-charge, said the books would improve their stock and collection because some of them were outdated and should be removed from the shelves. She appealed to the members, individuals and institutions to assist the library with computers to support its Information, Communication and Technology (ICT) Centre and a photocopier to enhance its operations.
