The traditional support for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) by the people of Kwahu was manifested at the weekend when the party's flagbearer arrived in the area to begin the second phase of his Eastern regional tour.
Both the young and old were seen jostling to catch a glimpse of the NPP presidential candidate as they lined up the streets of Mpraeso and Nkawkaw to welcome Nana Akufo-Addo.
Grace Omaboe, known in showbiz as Maame Dokono used the occasion to lambast her former party, the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) for being an undemocratic and violent party.
She said she has now seen the difference between the NPP and the NDC and that within eight year's of NPP's rule the country had seen tremendous progress while the NDC's 19 years witnessed marginal growth in the economy.
Maame Dokono said for Ghana to make any meaningful socio-economic progress, Ghanaians must vote massively for the NPP to continue its good works.
Ghana's ambassador to Ireland, Ms. Gloria Akuffo, who was the former Minister of Aviation, made reference to the NDC's campaign slogan that Ghanaians should assess their living standards before casting their votes.
She noted that if that principle is used in the December elections the NPP would rather win the elections easily since the living standards of Ghanaians had seen tremendous improvement.
"Now women can go the hospital and give birth free of charge, Ghanaians can attend hospital without paying anything and school children attend basic schools free of charge."
She therefore entreated Ghanaians to vote massively for the NPP since women have benefitted a lot from the programmes of the party.
Nana Akufo-Addo reiterated his call for Ghanaians to reject the NDC since they did not have any better ideas to make the country a first world nation.
"We are better placed to bring complete transformation to the country, after establishing the economy and creating the enabling environment in our first eight years in power," he said, adding, "we must move the nation forward and not backwards to the dark days."
