'One Touch' Movement inaugurated

The Western Regional branch of   the 'One Touch' Movement was officially inaugurated in Takoradi last Friday with a call on all NPP members not to rest on their oars until the party"s flagbearer, Nana Akufo-Addo, wins the December 7 presidential election in a first round balloting.

 A ten-member executive under the chairmanship of Kweku Sam Amoah, a Sekondi-based legal practitioner, was sworn into office to work towards Nana's victory at the polls.

The 'One Touch' Movement is made up of vibrant youth groups within the NPP whose sole vision is to campaign for the party's presidential aspirant to secure the constitutionally required 50%+1 votes in a first round balloting.

To achieve their hearts' desire, members of the Movement have embarked on a nationwide programme of propagating the NPP's seven-and-a-half years' achievements in government to the electorate, particularly those at the grass root level.

They have also drawn up a comprehensive programme of securing the mandate of floating voters such as 'shoe shine' boys, truck pushers, taxi drivers and market women.

According to the regional chairman of the Movement, the Western Region has been divided into areas and zones with co-ordinators embarking on house-to-house campaign to secure votes for Nana Akufo-Addo.

He said the Movement, which has a lot of organizational work doing before the December election, had already toured the Sekondi and Essikado-Ketan constituencies and would soon penetrate the Nzema areas to canvass for votes for Nana.

The Regional secretary, Anane Bruce, also intimated that the 'One Touch' Movement does not want to witness a repetition of proceedings in the 2000 elections where the party's then presidential candidate, John Agyekum Kufuor, had to go through a second round balloting before winning the race.

He said it was to avoid such an unpleasant situation that members of the Movement had resolved to go all out to campaign for a landslide victory for Nana Akufo-Addo.

Bruce also assured all the party's parliamentary candidates of the Movement's support to enable them win massively in their respective constituencies.
