Pokuase community in the Ga West municipality, has been provided with potable water.

Nana Okae, in his address, commended officials of the two organisations for providing water to the community, adding that four other communities in the municipality are  to benefit from the project.

“Water is precious and communities in the municipality need potable water to keep their health sound.”

He said communities shortlisted for the water project have been asked to make  “token contributions” of GH ¢ 5,000 towards the project, estimated at GH ¢ 50,000, adding that the assembly had already made  payment of GH¢10,000 to support them.

Nana Okae said nearly  GH ¢ 400,000 had been spent by the assembly in the last four years on boreholes and hand dug wells in some of the communities, with  support from DANIDA.

“The Assembly  made an initial payment of GH ¢ 10,000 to the Ghana Water Company to support the extension of pipe-borne water to the municipal capital and its environs,” he stated.

He expressed his appreciation to Safe Water Network and Water Health for their effort and said it was good the people contributed towards the provision of social services as the government alone could not provide all social amenities.

Nana Okae advised the people to develop the spirit of maintenance so that they could keep the facility in service for long.

Mr  Samuel Aryeetey Attoh,  Member of Parliament  for the Trobu-Amasaman, presented  GH ¢ 2,000 which he termed as his “widow's mite” to the people of Pokuase

The Presiding Member of the Ga West District Assembly and the Assembly member for the Pokuase electoral area, Mr. Daniel Nii Darku Dodoo, who was the chairman for the occasion admonished the people to put their differences behind  and forge ahead for the development of the community.
