The Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) on Wednesday said it would honour Mr Harry Mouzalas, a former General Secretary, posthumously at the 13th GJA Awards scheduled for October 25 at the Banquet Hall of the State House.
It a statement signed by Mr. Bright Blewu, General Secretary, the GJA expressed deep sorrow over the death of Mr. Mouzalas.
Mr Mouzalas, a retired Chief Editor of the Ghana News Agency, served as GJA General Secretary from 1978-1981 and was a member of the current GJA Awards Committee, which is chaired by Mr. Berifi Apenteng, a media consultant.
“He worked hard with other members of the Awards committee to ensure that they completed their work on time. It is a pity that he will not to be around when the committee presents its report to the national executive,” a statement signed by Mr Bright Blewu said.
It said even while he was a pensioner, Mr Mouzalas maintained very strong bonds with the GJA. He visited the Ghana International Press Centre, headquarters of the association, once in a while to share ideas with the current executive.
“Mr Mouzalas will be sorely missed for his dedication and commitment to the association.”
He died on September 22 after a short illness and will be buried on October 16 at the Osu cemetery.
