A Sekondi district magistrates’ court “A” on Monday ordered Nana Gladys Sackey, queen mother of Adientem, a suburb near Takoradi and one Johnson Botchway, a mason, to deposit GH¢2,630 in the court or be remanded in prison custody.
She was charged with issuing fake land documents and selling lands belonging to other people.
She pleaded not guilty and would re-appear before the court on Tuesday.
Prosecuting, Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP), Albert Deletsa, told the court presided over by Mr Kwame Polley, that on March 7 this year, the complainant Vida Abeka, a trader resident at Assakai in search of a parcel of land to buy, met the queen mother, who introduced Botchway and one Stephen Donkor now at large, to the complainant.
He said the queen mother collected the amount involved and prepared the documents, but when the complainant went to the site to begin construction; the real owners emerged and cautioned her to stop.
