Manufacturers urged to add value to be competitive

Mr Kofi Akuoko, Chairman of the Ghana Quality Organisation (GQO), has stressed the need for local manufacturers to add value products in other to sustain their businesses and be competitive externally.

He said: “there should be continuous improvement in goods and services to make the country globally competitive and to accelerate her development”.

Mr Akuoko said this when he addressed local manufacturers on quality and productivity improvement at a workshop organised by the Sekondi-Takoradi Regional Chamber of Commerce and Industry at Takoradi.

He said improving quality of goods and services means achieving excellence and not just conforming to standards.

“Quality strategy is the key to higher productivity, bigger profits and prosperous nation,” he said.

Mr Akuoko said quality techniques could also increased export trading activities leading to a rise in Gross Domestic Product (GDP) and improvement in general standard of living.

Mr Ato Van-Ess, Chairman of the Sekondi-Takoradi Regional Chamber of Commerce and Industry said the Chamber had lined up programmes to educate the business community to improve the quality of their goods and services.
