GTUC mourns Baah Wiredu’s death

The Ghana Trades Union Congress (GTUC) has expressed their deep sorrow about the death of Mr. Kwadwo Baah-Wiredu, Minister of Finance and Economic Planning and Member of Parliament for Asante Akyem North.
In a press release signed by Kofi Asamoah, Secretary-General, GTUC on Tuesday said, the Union is in deep sadness and that the death of the Minister is a big blow to the Union.


“The Ghana Trades Union Congress received the death of Honourable Kwadwo Baah-Wiredu, Minister of Finance and Economic Planning and Member of Parliament for Asante Akyem with deep sorrow and shock”, the release said.
The release said, GTUC recalled the bond of friendship between the Mr. Baah- Wiredu and the Union since his appointment as Minister of Local Government and grew in great strength when he moved to the Finance Ministry where he adopted an open approach to the Union towards the preparation of Ghana's budget which made Ghana TUC and the Minister to know each other better.
The TUC also recalled that Mr. Baah Wiredu received their annual inputs made with open hands and discussed them when necessary and when convinced he would adopt and implement those suggestions made by the GTUC.
The leadership of GTUC confirmed that Baah Wiredu was an honest man, humane, affable and diligent in his approach to work with all zealousness and was mindful of the legal framework within which to operate.
GTUC said “Ghana has lost one of the most committed Civil Servants and it is difficult to fill the vacuum created by Hon. Baah Wiredu.”
GTUC therefore extends their heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family, government and the people of Ghana.
