The Tema Police has arrested Prince Martey, taxi driver who conspired with two unidentified men to rob a female passenger of her personal belongings in Tema last Thursday.
Martey, driving an Opel Kadet taxi cab with registration number GW 6838 U was arrested together with the car by a Police Patrol Team and handed over to the Tema Community Two Police.

Inspector Olivia Turkson, Tema Police Public Affairs Officer in a press release said the complainant Ms Selina Abotsi Dadzie, a student of Methodist University and her husband hired the services of Martey from Tema to Nungua at about 2140 hours.

On reaching Agba-Maame Restaurant at Community Two, Martey suddenly stopped the car and two men immediately boarded it before he sped off.

Selina's husband, who was in the front seat, gave them a chase but to no avail.

The release stated that the shouts of the complainant attracted a road user who struggled with the driver when he (Martey) refused to accompany them to the police station.

Inspector Turkson said Martey fled but was later identified by a private security and handed over to the police when he later returned for the car.

The handbag contained a purse containing GH¢ 400, voter ID card, E-Zwich card, hospital attendance card, student handbook, two Nokia mobile phones.

The handbag is yet to be retrieved.
