-The General Manager of the Gomoaman Mutual Health Insurance Scheme, Mr Mark Nii Lamptey has appealed to clients to renew their subscription as soon as they expired.
They should not wait till they fall sick before rushing to renew their cards.
Speaking to the Ghana News Agency at Apam on Wednesday, Mr. Lamptey expressed concern about the behaviour, of some clients to defraud the Scheme by not renewing their subscription until they fell sick and needed medical attention.
“Some were even admitted at hospital before they send relatives to renew their cards for them”, he stated and pointed out that by their behaviour, “if a client, for example does not fall sick for about three years it means he or she will not pay the annual subscription fee for the three years”.
Mr. Lamptey reminded clients that it was their subscription and subvention from the central government which was used to pay for the claims submitted by the service providers.
If they failed to pay their subscription fee, it would be difficult for the scheme to pay for the services rendered to them by health facilities.
The scheme manager said they have received the new national identity cards which could enable clients to assess health care service at any part of the country; so their clients could go for them.
Mr. Ike Quansah, the Accountant advised clients to go to their designated chemical stores for drugs which could not be obtained at the health facilities since the scheme would not pay for drugs bought outside the recognised stores.
