Registration officers at Kasoa in the Central Region for the on-going Voters Registration exercise, have complained of difficulties due to shortage of registration materials.
They said materials such as registration forms are in short supply and batteries for cameras kept running down, thereby hampering the smooth registration of people.

Speaking to the Ghana News Agency, at Joe Mens' Spot 'A' registration centre, Mr Vincent Aninakwah, an Assistant Registration Officer, said the exercise for instance was halted this morning because the forms got finished.

He said at times, he or other philanthropies would provide money to buy batteries for the camera to function after having left the long queues for some period.

Mr Aninawak explained that the batteries usually run down after 50 shot of pictures in a role.

He appealed to the Electoral Commission to make available needed logistics to be able to register many people before the August 10, 2008 deadline.

Mr Aninakwah said so far about 870 people have registered with the centre and added that those who have attained 18 years were quizzed before getting them registered.

He said when one looked at the rate at which queues kept lengthening each day, is nothing was down to fast track the process some people might not be able to register by the deadline.
