The Seventh Annual Delegates' Conference of the Akyem Abuakwa Presbyterian Church Catechists Spouses' ended at the weekend with a call on them to support their husbands intellectually, spiritually and physically.

Sixty five members attended the three-day conference at Kyebi in the East Akyem Municipality.

In a sermon to climax the occasion, Reverend Paul Kwaku Kyem, the Kyebi Presbyterian District Minister who deputized for the Presbytery Chairperson emphasized that, the spouse of a Catechist or Reverend Minister was part of the church's administration and must be respected.

She therefore called on the spouses to be careful in all their dealings with the church members and the society and urged them to support their spouses spiritually, intellectually, physically and socially in other to attract more people into the church.

Rev. Kyem said God called them for a purpose to support their spouses and therefore urged them to work towards church growth, peace and progress.

He advised the spouses not to identify themselves with any political party and urged them to encourage their church members to always pray for peaceful elections in the country.

Mrs Esther Apraku Nyarko, the Municipal Social Welfare Officer, who spoke on the topic “Good Parenting”, stressed the need for parents to exhibit acceptable standards and positive qualities in all their activities.

She urged parents to guide their children against drinking, pre-marital sex, peer pressure, smoking and watching of pornographic films and pictures among other things.

She urged the government to take a second look at the films shown on the television these days to ensure that it did not have negative influence on the youth.

An appeal for funds yielded 455.00 Ghana cedis.
