Many smart organisations in the developed world are joining forces to reward unknown inventors.
Researching through the Internet it appears many Universities in the developed world are also joining this new concept.
The benefits to organisations involved are three fold.
Enables inventors to have access to top Universities
Access to their research facilities and guidance
Assistance to business acumen needed to market given products.
These benefits would improve our design and technology, thus bringing much needed quality and excellence to our products in order to compete aggressively with the global market.
Could such an approach bridge the gap between the grass roots inventors and the graduates of our Science and Technology colleges, enabling both to benefit?
Harnessing knowledge from these key groups of people within our country would see Ghana leap like the Chinese big players.
There is no need to have “them” (the graduates with many academic degrees) “us” (being that group with no academic qualifications). Everyone has hidden talents, which are not yet tapped to benefit our nation.
It is only when we learn to harness these untapped talents we become a productive country.
Would this be a new era enabling Ghana to penetrate into the competitive global market perhaps?
It would be very interesting to see our Katamanto, Ashiaman, Kokompe markets and the inventors rubbing shoulders with the elite of KUST (Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology).
This new concept if taken very seriously would not only inspire our youths to reach their full potential but also generate new money into our economy.
Every one matters and has something to share with the wider world.
If Ghana has such a system in our country new inventors could be receiving a National award of silver or bronze medals – it's the honour that counts, not the value of the metal! After all, if the invention is good, the inventor will make money anyway. Source: Mercy Adede Bolus
