A 35-year-old watchman,Issifu Adams, was on Thursday sentenced to a six-month jail term by a Tamale district court for stealing personal effects valued at GH¢291.
The accused was convicted on his own plea of guilt.
The prosecution told the court presided over by Madam Vivian Yamusah that on June 28 Mr. Hamza Fuseini, an employee of the Ghana Telecom in Tamale, reported to the police that Adams had broken into his house and made away with his wife's personal effects.
The items, the prosecution said, were clothing, a video deck, a cell phone and a bicycle.
A week after the theft the prosecution said Mr. Fuseini's wife spotted Adams riding the bicycle and she told her husband who in turn informed the police.
