The main opposition National Democratic Congress says it has incontrovertible evidence that shows that the NPP has hatched a plan to rig this year's elections.
The National Youth Organiser of the party, Haruna Iddrisu told Joy News that the NPP held a meeting on July 8, this year where leaflets on how the elections will be rigged were distributed.
He claimed the ruling New Patriotic Party plans to disenfranchise people in the NDC's strongholds by collecting their voter ID's in order to disrupt the electoral process.
“I have credible information that the New Patriotic Party held a meeting on 8th July with some of its activists and other persons from the Information Services Department at which meeting they hatched a number of plans…to influence the electoral process in favour of the NPP.”
Mr Iddrisu who is also the Member of Parliament for Tamale South said he wanted the NPP to know that NDC was aware of its plans to engage in “this kind of unacceptable thing”.
He told Joy News' Seth Kwame Boateng he had secured a document outlining what steps the NPP planned to take which was laid at the said meeting.
Asked whether he had reported the matter to the police since it bothered on criminality, he said putting in the public domain was enough.
“These are plans, it hasn't been consummated and by exposing this I'm sure they will stay away from wanting to do it. It is not a matter that I think that will be immediately reported to the police”, he said.
According to him, other matters relating to the issue were being investigated by the party.
Responding to the allegations, the National Organiser of the NPP, Lord Commey said the allegations did not deserve to be reacted to.
“I think that this country will be moving forward without such irresponsible statements coming from some politicians”, he said.
“It is difficult sometimes to dignify some of these things with a response and I think that what Haruna Iddrisu is saying should be thrown into the dustbin” he fumed.
He said political parties hold meetings to prepare themselves for the opening of the voters' register and wondered why such meetings should be misconstrued to mean a plan to rig elections.

Haruna is now scared of cloud puller Nana so he's talking by heart. NPP will never rig the incoming election but will surely thrash NDC very well because of their sterling performance.
