Takoradi District Magistrate's Court on Friday imposed a fine of 200 Ghana Cedis on John Kobbina, an unemployed resident at
New Takoradi, for attempting to stowaway.
The accused, who is also known as Kofi Eshun pleaded guilty and was further bonded to be of good behaviour for 12 months.
In default of the fine and the bond, Kobbina would serve six months imprisonment in hard labour.
The case of the prosecution was that at about 3.30 a.m. on July 14 this year, the accused and two others, now at large were found on board a foreign cargo vessel at the Takoradi Harbour in an attempt to stowaway.
The prosecution said the accomplices of the accused managed to escape arrest but the accused was arrested after attempting to escape.
The prosecution said the accused was handed over to the Police who charged him after investigations.
