If indeed the slogan “politics is about numbers” is any thing to go by, then the search for running mate to the NPP Presidential candidate, Honourable Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo will soon be a done deal in favour of Lepowwura, Alhaji Nurudeen Jawula, who is currently the chief Director of the Ministry of Health.

The Gonja land is the largest Traditional area in the Northern Region of Ghana.

It is also considered as the largest traditional area in the country and with Lepowura Jawula as the Traditional ruler in Kpembi a town near Salaga, one can imagine the electoral fortune that he will bring to Nana's ticket and for that matter the New Patriotic Party as a whole.

Not only that, the Lepowura has served and continue to serve in the civil service of Ghana, where by dint of hard work, he rose through the ranks to become the Chief Director of the Ministry of Health.

He previously served as the District Chief Executive for Walewale, Gambaga Tamale and Yendi, all in the northern region of Ghana.

Alhaji Jawula became the chairman of the G.F.A for a four-year term.

During his tenure, Ghana won the under 17-world cup in 1995and African under 20 cup in1999. Again, Accra Hearts of Oak won the African Club Championship trophy and also the super cup in 2000.

Presently, Alhaji Jawula serves on the CAF inter-club committee, CAF and FIFA match commissioner for the inter-club championship and the world club currently going on.

Alhaji Nurudeen Jawula also served as the vice chairman of theL.O.C.Ghana 2008.

With such credentials to his credit, Jawula is no doubt the most popular among the names that is making the rounds for the running mate to Honourable Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.

Again, with his experience in the civil service over the years, Jawula is the most experiences in the workings of governance of this country , because he had the opportunity to work with so many governments in the country both Military and civil.

During his presentation at the Institute of Economic Affairs organised Forum, honourable Nana AddoDankwa Akufo –Addo in an answer to a question made known the type of personality he want as his running mate. He spoke of competence and capability .one who can act as president in his absence.

Without mincing works, I can say for sure that, Lepowura Alhaji Nurudeen Jawula is that calibre that can partner Nana, for an emphatic victory, come 2008 general elections.

From the credentials as enumerated above, it has become abundantly clear that, Alhaji Jawula popularity cuts across political Ethnic and Traditional Divide. In fact, the name Alhaji Jawula is a house whole word in every part of the country.

As a chief in the largest Traditional area of the country, Alhaji Jawula will definitely over-shadow, Honourable John Mahama, the NDC running mate to Professor Attah Mills, because they all hail from the Gonja-land .

These will definitely be a great political fortune for Nana and the New Patriotic Party.

It is very important to state that as a devout Muslim, Alhaji Jawula has good relations with the National Chief Imam and all the ten Regional Imams. His involvement in Muslim activities in the country is well known.

His partnership with Nana Akufo-Addo will surely win the Zongo votes for the New Patriotic Party.
