Police in Nkoranza are to set up an election committee that would ensure smooth and peaceful electioneering campaign in the area.
Assistant Superintendent of Police Peter Akwasi Denteh, Nkoranza District Police Commander, told the GNA in an interview that membership of the committee would include representatives of political parties with offices in the district.
“The committee will study the work plans and movements of members of the parties to ensure that two parties do not meet at one centre on a particular day to avoid misunderstandings and clashes among supporters”, he said.
Mr Denteh commended the people of Nkoranza for their good behaviour during elections saying the district had never recorded and election violence for the past 12 years.
He urged the electorate to maintain the record to prove that they are matured in politics.
The police commander said the police were doing their best to combat crime in the area and neighbourhood watchdog committees had been set up in some communities to complement the work of the police.
Mr Denteh commended the watchdog committees at Dandwa, Ahyiayem, Bredi Number One and Nkwabeng and said police stations would be opened at Nkwabeng, Bredi Number One and Dromankese.
