NPP supporters advised to argue on issues

Mr Ibrahim Adjei, a Member of the Public Affairs Committee of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) campaign team, on Sunday advised supporters of the party to argue on issues and put the interest of the country first during campaigns.
"Members of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and the other opposition parties are our brothers and not our enemies. We need to put Ghana first and campaign on issues and the good people of Ghana would be the ultimate judge in December," he said at the inauguration of the Mass Support for Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and NPP campaign group in Accra.
The group is made up of party supporters from some parts of Accra including Kantamanto, Abofu, Mamobi, Nima, Taifa, Roman Ridge, East Legon, and 37 Licensing Office.
"Let us campaign as Ghanaians but let us not forget the past; that is why we need to compare the records of the past and ruling governments to find out which of the two should be given the mandate in December," Mr Adjei said.
He said the NPP government put the interest of the youth, workers and pensioners first but that was not the case during the rule of the NDC.
"Under the National Youth Employment Programme (NYEP), over 200,000 youth have been employed. The NPP government would inject one billion dollars into the economy to support Small and Medium Scale Enterprises (SMEs). The salary of pensioners has increased from one Ghana cedi under the previous government to 22 Ghana cedis under NPP."
Mr Adjei said the registration of 11 million Ghanaians under the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS), production of 650,000 tons of cocoa every year and the establishment of about 28 banks mades the NPP a better option than the NDC.
Hr said enrolment in the School Feeding Programme had increased by 30 per cent in the Northern regions whilst a 25-million-dollar Northern Development Fund has also been established.
Mr Ben Amoah, Secretary of Mass Support for Nana Akuffo Addo and NPP campaign group, said their task was to win floating voters, those who had just attained the age of 18 years as well as aggrieved members of the party.
He appealed to the party's Members of Parliament to contribute their quota towards the achievement of the group's objectives.
Mr Kwabena Agyei Amoyaw, Co-ordinator of the group, said an NPP government led by Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo would refine raw materials in order to create more jobs.
