CEPS donates to health institutions

Accra, June 18, GNA - The Customs, Excise and Preventive Service (CEPS)
on Wednesday donated GH¢10,000 to three health institutions in Accra to enhance their operations.
The Ghana Heart Foundation (GHF) at the Cardiothoracic Centre of the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital received GH¢5000, the 37th Military hospital GH¢2000 and the Pantang hospital GH¢3000.
CEPS, has since 2001 been donating towards the operations of the GHF, and recently the Military and Pantang hospitals.
The donations are realized from voluntary contributions made by personnel
of CEPS.
Mr. Emmnauel Doku, CEPS Commissioner who made donations to the institutions at separate events said the Service had a corporate responsibility to support some activities that addressed the needs of society and to reach out to the vulnerable.
He expressed the hope that the donation, apart from supporting the operations of the three institutions, would enable them to maintain their status as well cater for the less fortunate in society.
At the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital, Prof. Kwabena Frimpong-Boateng, President of the Foundation, who received the donation, expressed gratitude for the gesture, saying such donations went to further the cause of the Centre.
He advised the public to refrain from unhealthy habits like alcoholism and smoking, which had trebled the number of cases reported at the centre.
Group Captain Joseph Laryea, Deputy Commanding Officer of the Military Hospital thanked the CEPS for the donation, saying that, it would be put to judicious use.
