THE Queens Support Association, an association of queen mothers from various towns in the country who reside in Accra, have paid a courtesy call on the First Lady, Mrs Theresa Kufuor, at her office in Accra.
The meeting which was an open forum with the First Lady, discussed issues of concern to the queen mothers.
Some of the issues raised were the provision of nurseries and creches for young children in their respective villages whose parents are farmers or traders.
They also spoke about female genital mutilation and the plight of the kayayee (female porters) sleeping rough on the streets, rape, HIV/AIDS and their general well-being.
They also announced plans for their anniversary durbar.
The First Lady was of the opinion that parents must be discouraged from sending their female children under 18 to the urban centres to work.
