Court orders drivers to remove tinted windows and defective number plates

A circuit court at Cape Coast on Friday, ordered three taxi drivers, Paul Andoh, Issah Abdul Rahman and Adu John to remove all defective or unsuitable vehicle parts from their vehicles.
The three, who pleaded guilty to the charge, were however cautioned and discharged.
Prosecuting, Chief Inspector Oheneba Amoako-Boateng told the court presided over by Mr Richard Asiedu-Badu that, on May 6, 2008 at about 10.00 hours, the Cape Coast Motor Traffic and Transport Unit (MTTU) in collaboration with the National Road Safety Commission (NRSC) were on patrol when they intercepted the three men at Siwudu, a suburb of Cape Coast.
He said upon inspecting their vehicles, it was detected that Andoh had fitted decorative lights around the number plates of his Nissan Taxi, which made it impossible to read at night, while Rahman had his windscreen tinted also making it impossible to see the interior of the car during the day and night.
John had his number plate tilted upwards, making it impossible to read the number plate even from a close distance.
The judge ordered them to remove and adjust all the unacceptable fittings on their vehicles.
