Officials of the Ghana Investment Promotion Centre (GIPC) have agreed to meet with retail traders whose shops were locked up by a taskforce of the Centre on Wednesday.
The taskforce closed down the businesses of some foreigners, mostly Nigerians at the Opera Square area in Accra for not registering with the Centre and non-compliance with local investment laws.
Members of the Nigerian traders group who were affected by Thursday's action have been protesting the closure of the shops.
But the Head of the GIPC Taskforce on trading activities, Stephen Osei Yeboah says the Centre is prepared to help the traders regularize their businesses but insists his outfit will ensure compliance with investment laws.
The Nigerian businessmen numbering about 200, on Wednesday stormed the offices of Joy FM claiming their shops were unfairly targeted for closure and that the action by the regulator contravened ECOW AS protocols on trade.
They deal in products ranging from electrical gadgets and car spare parts to clothing.
