A New Patriotic Party presidential hopeful, Mr Alan Kyerematen, has stated that no amount of negative propaganda would distract him from his bid to win the flagbearership of the party.
“I have a focused and a targeted programme and that is why I do not want to waste time responding to all those propaganda against me”, he said.
Speaking at a media briefing in Wa as part of his four-day campaign tour of the Upper West Region, Mr Kyerematen said he was given the name “Alan cash” with the objective of destabilising his campaign but that agenda has rather propelled his candidature and his campaign.
“If people would not concentrate on their campaign but would rather go about talking about me instead of themselves, then it would go against them”.
“So far, in all the credible polls conducted on the NPP flagbearership race, I have always been among the first two front runners”, he added.
Mr Kyerematen, who described himself as the common denominator of the two front-runners in the race, said he was not enjoying support from President Kufuor or anyone.
He emphasised that he had come this far as a front runner in the race because people believed in him and also supported his future presidency.
Commenting on what his position would be if he should lose the election, the aspiring NPP flag bearer said he would support whoever emerged the winner.
He said though he was confident he would win, he would not be complacent. “God has a way of choosing leaders and so whoever wins I know it would be the will of God that has prevailed”, Mr Kyerematen added.
Responding to a question on the expenditure for his campaign, Mr Kyerematen said, “I do not know why people are making so much noise about me raising billions of cedis at a fundraising dinner I organised”.
