“NPP belies in action”- Says I.C. Quaye as he inspects metropolitan projects

The Greater Accra Regional Minister, Sheik I.C. Quaye and a team of government officials have inspected some development projects in the city.

He said the purpose of the inspection is to let people know that the NPP government believes in action and takes delight in showcasing to the people some developmental projects undertaken by the government in the city.

The team inspected a road at Alajo in the Ayawaso Central Constituency. The road would facilitate the movement of vehicles and pedestrians in the area.


He said the project, being undertaken by Taysec, a British construction company is funded by the government.

Sheikh I.C. Quaye said the reconstruction of the Odaw River has widened and deepened the drainage system which has been able to contain flood water from Aburi “mountains” and elsewhere.

He said he was happy the floods which is used to lead to loss of lives and destruction of properties has been curtailed.

Deputy Resident Engineer of Bceom-Associates Consultant Limited, Mr. Kwabena Bimpong said about GH¢40 million had been spent on compensation for land, loss of business, purchase of materials for the construction of the road.

He said the purpose of constructing the road is to ease traffic on Circle-Achimota Road, for the safety of pedestrians and for drainage.

Mr. Bimpong said a modern terminal is being constructed at Achimota to provide an administration block, police post, clinic, place of convenient, waiting room, kitchen, restaurant, reservoir, waiting area for vehicles. He said so far 99% of the work had been completed.
