Culture Caravan brings joy to the masses

The Culture Caravan finished its 8 cities/towns road show on an incredible high at the Black Park in Obuasi on Sunday May 10. After a successful first leg in Takoradi, Elmina, Kasoa and Jamestown, one would have imagined that he had seen and heard it all but the second round pulled an even more enthusiastic crowd under some odd weather conditions in some venues.

The people of Kumasi didn't allow the rains to dampen their chances of seeing the Oseikrom President, Reggie Rockstone and other acting and singing on stage. In spite of the cold winds that followed the rains on Thursday May 7, the crowd braced it all and cheered on Kwaw Kesse, Wanlov, King Ayisoba, Yaw Kontor and others as the acted various roles and performed several hit songs in between. The energy from the crowd in Kumasi was so high that it was hard to believe that that was the smallest crowd throughout the road trip.

The caravan moved over to the Jackson Park in Koforidua the following night, where it was met by yet another huge and animated crowd. The response from the people was great, they danced through the mixes provide by turntable impresario, DJ Black until the show proper. The crowd quickly got over the surprise when the music switched from the DJ Black's mixes into a play with exciting characters like Kweku Ananse. They people of 'Koftown' love the culture caravan so much that they followed the tour buses throughout the streets cheering on the stars, particularly Kwaw Kesse.

Nkawkaw also received the Culture Caravan with crazy energy but sadly the fun was cut short by the rains. The screaming crowd defied the heavy winds that literally ripped off banners and other branding materials on the Ofori Park, but couldn't sustain it for long when the rains started dropping heavily and electrical equipment had to be dismantled. The crowd soon dispatched not disappointed because at least the had seen one complete play out of the set of four.

On Sunday May 10, the people of Obuasi put the icing on the cake, when they turned out in their numbers to witness the Culture Caravan. Again, the energy was terrific as the young and old cheered on the stars. Being the last on the bill, the show in Obuasi had a lot of extras and freestyles which took the excitement a notch higher. Panji Anoff, the producer of the show thanked the people of Obuasi for their warmth.

According to unconfirmed reports, the Culture Caravan may soon be extended to other parts of the country. The Culture Caravan was created by the Pidjin Music for the French Embassy in Ghana and sponsored by Vodafone.
