Ghanaian Musicians Sing For Peace

The President of the Musicians Union Of Ghana (MUSIGA), Alhaji Sidiku Buari, has called on Muslim members of the union and all artists in Tamale to use the Ramadan fasting period to preach peace in the region.Alhaji Sidiku Buari, who is also chairman of the African Action Plan Committee of the International Federation of Musicians, was launching a peace album in the Northern region last week.He urged artists in the region, especially the Muslims among them, to use the Ramadan period to pray for the progress of this country as the general elections approach.“This holy period is a special time on the Islamic calendar when prayers are answered by Allah,” Alhaji said. “So please remember to pray for the country, yourself and others.”The Peace Album launch was preceded by a workshop at which the contribution of 46 Ghanaian musicians to the album was acknowledged. They include C.K. Mann, Paapa Yankson, Pat Thomas, Pozo Hayes, Prince Osei Kofi, Kaakyire Kwame Appiah, Diana Akiwumi, Tic Tac, Obrafour and Nana Quame. There was also a Peace Talent musical programme. Meanwhile, the Peace album is scheduled to the distributed to radios stations all over Ghana from November 1, this year.
