Tinchy Stryder (real name Kwasi Danquah) 21 years old of Ghanaian origin from Bow E3, East London,has taken the UK by storm.After years of grinding on the underground scene here in the UK, the hard work has paid off for Tinchy Stryder with is "Number One" Track featuring N-Dubz. It is the first time a single called Number 1 has reached the top spot.
Tinchy Stryder infact is well know to the UK Ghanaian community, as he has performed for Akwaaba UK at the Ghana Independence Celebration Dance at Stratford Rex in East London and the Ghana Party in the Park in Copthall Park, Mill Hill London.
His single 'Underground', which features on his first mixtape 'Lost and Found, is widely seen as the track that helped him break through in his own right.
His debut album 'Star In The Hood' was released in the summer of 2007 and sold approximately 30,000 copies. To support this release he also released a collection of t-shirts and jumpers with the phrase "Star In The Hood" printed on the front.
He also released two further singles which do not feature on the Cloud 9 EP, titled "Breathe," and most recently, "Stryderman" .
'Stryderman'was a single released in 2008, gaining airplay on BBC Radio 1. In September 2008, Stryder featured on Craig David's new single "Where's Your Love" . He also appears on the track "Princes" from the album Saint Dymphna by Gang Gang Dance.
His next single, called "Take Me Back", featuring Taio Cruz, (released in January 2009) was a popular hit following numerous plays on Radio 1, Kiss FM and many other TV and radio stations. On January 18, the song entered the official UK Singles Chartsat 39, one day before its official release. The following week the single moved up 36 places to number 3in the UK chats.Tinchy Stryder's second album is expected for release in 2009.
