Bandana goes on a warpath

Bandana, the man who made the word 'outernational' popular is Ghana is back to redeem his once promising career as Ghana's realest dancehall artist. Sadly he seems to be taking the easy way out by attacking all the musicians who supported Nana Akuffo Addo's bid for the presidency last December, especially A-Plus and Kwabena Kwabena. He was recently on The Rundown with Yaw Sakyi to throw more light on his new single which disses all the said musicians.

Yea, a little controversy and beef can do a lot for a musician's career but fundamentally, he/she must have a reason for beefing and the music must sound good as well. These elements I fail to see in Bandana's single. Explaining his motive for the song, Bandana said that he believes that music and politics don't mix and that the musicians who endorsed Akuffo Addo put the music industry into shame for their own monetary gains. How? I'm getting tired of explaining that it is ok for musicians to endorse or disapprove of a politician and it happens all over the world. Asked what he thought of Jay Z and others endorsing Obama, he said that was ok because Obama was black and that it was a 'racial thing'. I guess his new album is going to be titled, 'The Miseducation of Bandana'. American musicians and actors have been supporting one presidential candidate/party or the other even before Obama was born, so Bandana should just let it go.

In the course of the program, A-Plus was called on phone but the connection was poor and all we could hear was A-Plus' roaring laughter. This angered Bandana who went on to vent his spleen on A-Plus by calling him a coward. He also added that A-Plus had never ever done any serious music in his lifetime.

Bandana added that Kwabena Kwabena supported Nana Addo because of the money he was getting. He also blamed the demise of the now infamous Madhaus Entertainment “on people like Kwabena Kwabena”. It would be recalled that Madhaus was working on a Bandana/Beenieman collaboration until the record label vanished into thin air. Well, Bandana hasn't given up hopes yet; he says he is working on his new album and he still has hopes of working with Sean Paul, Beenieman and others. He's going 'Outanational'! All the best!
