Uniqlo - UK And NTS Radio: Mixing Business With Pleasure

Thursday 18^th of August 2016 will ever be remembered in the memoires of, if not all, then most of those who were lucky to be selected for the Uniqlo-NTS Radio collaboration rooftop party, at Uniqlo’s 311 Oxford Street branch.

The giant clothing store and the game-changing NTS radio, combined to mix business with pleasure by giving a section of the general public who were above 18, the ultimate chance to be fashionably entertained.

The queuing guests at the entrance of the Uniqlo store, was the talk of Oxford Street as many a passers-by were astound as to what actually the queue is all about.

Tucked in a corner direct opposite the entrance of the rooftop arena, was a mini stall dripping with specialised T-shirts designed to mesmerize the fashion and music sense out of all on sight.

The drinks were free flowing, like the Pacific Ocean in assorted kinds, while the humble and polite bar attendants made sure everyone had their feel, fix and fill.

While Girlfriend was technically busy with the equipment, Sofie was relaxing in readiness for her session.

So, catching up with NTS’ own DJ Sofie who was alive and kicking while summarising the highlight of the event as a curtain raiser was such a delight “Well NTS and Uniqlo put together a lot of shindig and they got Girlfriend Playing, as well as Kutmah and myself, so we should all hope to have a good time tonight.”

Taking us through her session and what the crowd should expect , she said: “I play a really mixed bag of stuff, but tonight I have some weird remixes of some old rap songs, I might play some weird sampled joints, then maybe some other stuff, and just see how the vibe is, and take it from there.”

The expectations of either a good or bad night-out depend arguably on the set of a DJ, and as to what the night will eventually be, “I don’t know, it seems like a pretty busy turn out so far, so am going to see what comes, I guess.” Said, Sofie.

And she did not disappoint her submissions when she landed on the Turntables, with her signature of music as the crowd took to her unique selections.

Relaying her set to another genius in the shape, size and form of Dj Kutmah, was just refreshing. Entering the fray and sending the party high above the skies was amazing, given the position of the party’s location.

Kutmah as a DJ, really and truly plays like no other DJ, his spins were, in fact second to none while the mercurial techniques of Girlfriend was on notice.

The invited crowd were busily dancing to the skies, so plucking Luke who has not been to such an event before, was very easy, he said “It’s alright. All we need is taking minimal care, great DJs, beautiful people.

“Beautiful vibe, and beautiful sunset, the skyline as well as bringing all these people together in one melting pot for a unique experience is great.”

In translation of his happiness, he added “Nothing, nothing, and nothing like this before. If I smile it’s side to side, if I smile it’s side to side, this event is bringing fashion and music together because NTS radio is a community based and Uniqlo is a globalised company, so it’s good. Beautiful London evening, British Summer, free drinks, it’s been perfect.”

Uniqlo-UK’s Mr Ben Cook the store manager, was on deck, supervising the occasion from scratch with his directives: bearing in mind the capacity of the crowd, as well as the security of their wellbeing.

The event did not only bring about fashion and entertainment, but also unity through inter-cultural embrace, along one unique and diversified atmosphere.

The only downside of the party was that, there was only one toilet upstairs, serving the whole crowd.

Mixing business with pleasure on Thursday 18 August 2016 was the evening that stood tall, long and unique at the rooftop of the 311 Oxford Street’s Uniqlo building, housing all their designer stuffs.

The fusion of fashion and music was well manifested and experienced by all who attended the 311 Rooftop Party.
